Troubleshooting
Start with Diagnostics (admins): the Timeline shows each book’s steps with the technical
details, and Jobs shows errors and retries. The container log (docker compose logs armarium)
has the rest.
Locked out
Section titled “Locked out”Forgot the admin password, or turned passwords off and your sign-on provider is down? On the server:
docker compose exec armarium armarium reset-admin # the first admindocker compose exec armarium armarium reset-admin alice # a particular adminIt prints a new password for that admin (creating an admin account if there is none) and turns
password sign-in back on.
“Too many sign-in attempts” means 5 wrong passwords for that username in 15 minutes. Wait it out, or restart Armarium to clear it.
Connecting Audible fails
Section titled “Connecting Audible fails”- The link expired. It’s good for 10 minutes; start again.
- Wrong thing pasted. Paste the full address of the page Amazon leaves you on, starting with
https://, even if that page looks like an error. - Sign in again on an account means Audible stopped accepting its sign-in. Nothing downloads for that member until they reconnect from Settings.
A book says “Needs you”
Section titled “A book says “Needs you””| Reason | What to do |
|---|---|
| Audible needs you to sign in again | The owner reconnects Audible in Settings, then Try again. |
| Audible refused to hand over this title | Check the owner can still play it on Audible; borrowed Audible Plus titles can expire. |
| Audible is rate-limiting downloads | Nothing; it’s retried later. |
| The download finished without an audio file | Check Diagnostics for Libation’s output. |
| A folder for this book already exists on the shelf | Something is already at that path in the library. Move or delete it, then Try again. |
| Download did not finish after several tries | Check Diagnostics; then Try again. |
Audiobookshelf “Can’t connect”
Section titled “Audiobookshelf “Can’t connect””- The Server address is from Armarium’s point of view: inside Docker,
localhostis Armarium itself. Use the container name or the host’s address. - The API key must belong to an admin user in Audiobookshelf.
- Live updates off in the Catalog means the WebSocket to Audiobookshelf is blocked. Allow WebSocket upgrades on any proxy between them; until then Armarium checks periodically.
On the shelf but not matched
Section titled “On the shelf but not matched”After placing a book, Armarium asks Audiobookshelf to scan and looks for it by ASIN, retrying for a couple of hours. If it never shows up, the timeline says “On the shelf, but Audiobookshelf has not matched it yet”. Check the book is inside the library folder Audiobookshelf reads (see the library’s folders in Server → Audiobookshelf), and that Armarium’s library mount is that same folder.
Shelving is slow, or the disk fills up briefly
Section titled “Shelving is slow, or the disk fills up briefly”Downloads are being copied into the library rather than renamed. See Storage.
Permission denied
Section titled “Permission denied”The container runs as uid 1001: chown -R 1001:1001 its config and data folders, and make sure it can
write to the library folder.
